Portugal — 32 Litres of Olive Oil

← all works

After/within a solid Burnout I decided that I would not have to start a new job directly again and there was not enough energy to organize stuff, to deal with visa, blablabla. So I started to look around Europe, and with a little hint and a contact from a close friend in Portugal the decision was made. Also because I got the chance for a ride down with a friend in her van. This whole time was set under the star of leaving old selves behind and opening to new possibilities. In Portugal it all condensed into - new language - new sport (surfing) - new hand-craft (building wooden surfboards) In reflection i always told people that in those ten months I caught up on the last ten years of lack of sleep, and the last ten years of unresolved emotional and psychological processes. Clearing a lot of old stuff out... also physically... keywords were: salads, surfing and meditation. Well... but in the cold atlantic water there needs to be some solid nutrition as well, and roughly adding up our shopping over some months the most astonishing figure was that we used 32 liters of (good) olive oil (in salads and being with an italian, dipping bread). Yeahyeah, some 50kg or Oranges, 40kg or Avocados etc as well but seriously, 32 LITERS of olive oil?! Joup... seems like it, there was clear evidence in bills and empty canisters. Well, ok then, seemed like a really good idea.
