'You're going to Mexico? You better bring a gun!' And such things you hear a lot just before the border of Mexico... and even more so... TIJUANA... legendary scary Tijuana... supposedly 'under control' right now by gangs. We in our big white Ford Pickup... well... prejudice jungle at it's best! And then... a 6 lane queue, a quick sniff by a dog, a cold welcome, a big colourful sign 'welcome to Tijuana' TaDaaaaa... Mexico... but wait a minute... don't we need some kind of stamp in our passport in order to have everything correct with our ESTA etc? Stumbling over ALL of the prejudices we made our way through the border, got all the papers for the car, our holy stamp in the passport, and then we were already late and drove into the niiiiiggghhtt in Meeeexxxiiccoooo With the address from iOverlander we even got picked up ('because our car looked like a christmas tree and went around in circles...') in the hills of Baja by this mexican Cowboy. And with our stay there for a couple of days and his incredibly loving, welcoming, energetic and happy nature he managed to turn our picture of Mexico right around solid and straight 180°. We really didn't want to leave and reallyreally want to come back to this magic little valley in Baja California!
